Puppy Board and Train

Boarding school for your puppy

Puppyhood is exciting and fun…but also can be frustrating and confusing! Boarding your puppy with a qualified pet behaviorist can set you and your dog up for success.

Whether you will be gone on vacation and need a place for your puppy to stay without missing out on their critical socialization window, or you simply aren’t able to tackle the myriad tasks associated with raising a happy puppy, our puppy board and train has got you covered!

Early puppyhood is one of the most important stages in a dog’s life. Puppies need to positively and safely experience as many new people, animals, sights, and sounds, as they can. Incomplete or improper socialization can lead to behavior problems and unhappy pets and people. Puppy board and train can help you expose your puppy to the world, as well as start important life skills and foundational behaviors. (For more on puppy socialization see the AVSAB Position Statement on Puppy Socialization)

Starting with a thorough intake form and phone call, The Pet Professor will customize your puppy’s stay to meet everyone’s needs. We will send you daily photos/videos and an email summary of your puppy’s training and socialization activity. You will be sent home with handouts and written explanations of your puppy’s new skills. For longer stays (1 week +), we will end the board and train with send-off meeting, giving you the skills and resources necessary to continue on the right path towards a well-rounded dog.

  • What will my puppy learn?

The puppy board and train curriculum is fully customizable to each puppy and their owner’s needs.

We will cover foundational training skills such as sit, down, stay, come, relaxation, food manners, crate training, potty training, and body handling, as well as focus on socialization with new people, dogs, sights, sounds, surfaces, and smells.

  • Where will my puppy stay?

Your puppy will live in The Pet Professor’s home and be a part of every day life. They will stay in the same home as young children, adults, dogs and cats. They will sleep in their crate or pen, spend time in a fully fenced yard and out and about in a quiet suburb, and visit dog-friendly public locations.

  • Who trains my puppy?

Dr. Leah Nettle is responsible for all in-home and public socializing and training. She has a PhD in animal behavior, additional certifications, and a decade of working with dogs (and cats) of all ages, shapes, and personalities.
